Band (under bust): wrap a soft tape directly under your bust, snug but not tight. Round to the nearest centimetre — that's your band size.
Cup (fullest bust): measure around the fullest part of your bust. Subtract your band measurement — the difference in cm tells you your cup (12–14 cm = A, 14–16 cm = B, 16–18 cm = C, 18–20 cm = D, 20–22 cm = DD).

I’ve always had the problem of large breasts (5th cup) and regular bras either the underwire poked me or the straps marked my shoulders.
